Our new Natural Star comes from from Venice: meet sulphite free Pinot Grigio wine!
We have been selling this Pinot Grigio with a lot of success and it is not surprising why. This natural wine review is to tell you a bit of a story about this wine and also showcase passionate winemakers who produce it.
Pinot Grigio Redentore pays tribute to one of the most treasured festivities of Venice, which is called the “Festa del Redentore”. Every third weekend of July Venetians celebrate it with an immense fireworks display and sumptuous dinners as the harbour fills with colourful boats.
Winemaker’s family, De Stefani, has been producing wines for four generations. Currently Alessandro De Stefani oversees production and is proud of their natural wine philosophy. Their commitment is to produce the wines absolutely naturally in the vineyard and in the cellar, he calls it a holistic approach and a quality without compromise.
The vineyards are located north of Venice, the climate is favourable to produce fresh wines - colder at night and warmer during the day. The soil is rich in clay and minerals. Overall location is both close to Dolomites mountains and Adriatic Sea. Coming back to the festivities, Redentore means redemption - it celebrates freedom from plague that struck Venice between 1575 and 1577. The wine that is made naturally is a vivacious symbol of healthier lifestyle that keeps disease away.
This sulphite free Pinot Grigio is not just our Natural Star for its story and symbolic meaning. It is delicious too! It is intense straw yellow in colour. Elegant fruity aromas are accentuated with nuts and toasted almonds. Flavours are elegant and fresh with an excellent balanced minerality. There is a light pear-drop aroma character too. Suitable for vegans and made without sulfites (as also properly labelled on the bottle). It is fairly light with just 12% abv.
What can you pair it with? This natural Pinot Grigio wine is ideal with elegant starters, soups, vegetable risotto and grilled fish. This wine will definitely benefit from proper chilling to 8-10°C.
We've included this wine in many of our sulphite free wine cases because of its great value and superb flavour profile. Hope you will enjoy this Pinot Grigio wine too! Cheers
