South of Touraine, at the gates of Poitou, Richelieu had discovered his duchy-meadow. This is where he built a castle and a city back in 17th century France.
Not far from there, in Razines, a green island "La Garrelière" has been winegrowing for more than three centuries. On this hill, which is 130 metres above sea level, the vines receives the best sunshine and produces a local wine. Today 20 hectares of vineyards surround the property and its cellars that bate back to the eighteenth century. Forests that are rich diversity of cultures including vines, truffles, wild asparagus and cereals to name only a few, the Richelais is a region full of colour and sweetness.
The estate is part of the Touraine appellation but its geographical situation ranks it apart. Since 1985, François Plouzeau, winemaker-owner, exploits, vinifies and raises the wines of the estate since 1993, the Domaine de la Garrelière is driven organically, biodynamically, with no chemical synthesis.
