Fresh with blue and red fruits, violets and earl grey tea. Has a little natural funk but still clean.

This organic Gamay wine is really funky with its complexity - it has sweetness, bitterness, spicy notes and that illusive 'je ne sais quoi'. Unusual wine to be enjoyed slightly chilled for extra freshness.

Food Match: Pork Milanese or fresh squid. We urge you to experiment with this wine as it is quite unique and can be even very well suited to blueberry crumble or adventurous starters and salads.

Location: Ambillou Chateau, Anjou, Loire

Baptiste’s father is the renowned producer of biodynamic Anjou wines, Olivier Cousin, and in January 2013 Baptiste took over half (3.5 hectares) of his father’s vines that are situated 35 km to the South of Anjou (these vines previously belonged to his great grand-mother), he also vinifies in his father’s winery that is located in the village called ’Martigné-Briand.

The Anjou region enjoys a temperate, continental climate regulated by the Loire River and the Atlantic Ocean, both of which are in close proximity. The climate can be very cool with spring time frost being a potential hazard for the vines. During the harvest months, rain can cause the grapes to be harvested under-ripe but can also aid in the development of Botrytis for the region's dessert wines.

Sandy soil containing a good mineral content as well as micro flora.

Baptiste uses two horses to help the cultivation and reduces the amount of copper and sulphur sprayed, availing himself of tisanes and other herbal decoctions to nourish the soil.
