Trio of Organic Red Wines | Quirky Wines | Malbec

What is there to say about a large glass of Malbec with a lovely thick cut of ribeye steak? Not much I would suggest, except maybe where is the nearest butcher shop!

On an exceptional journey, the malbec grape has traveled from it origins of Cahors, France, to Argentina where it has thrived! Like all things though, it does always come home, but not always as we knew it.

The case consists wines that are unconventional from coventional places and a conventional wine from an unconventional place!

These 3 wines which are all organic, vegan friendly and made naturally with sulphites only added at the bottling stage;

Tizac Malbec, Argentina; this organic Malbec is made in Catamarca, Argentina, a lesser known province that is located in North West of the country. The vineyards' altitude is superb - over 5000 feet. It gives the grapes its freshness, vibrancy and subtle complexity from the prolonged growing season. The wine is made of a popular Malbec in a medium bodied style - elegant and broad red and black fruit flavours together with generous touch of sweet spice. This dry red wine is easy to drink, soft mouthfeel and good depth of flavours.

Food Match: perfect with richer pasta dishes and grilled meats

Sugars: <2 g/l Sulphites: 20 mg/l ABV: 13.6%

Chateau du Cedre Malbec, Cahors, France; a truly honest and sincere, fresh and enlivening, tender and generous dry red wine. A well-stocked fruit basket with plums, cherries and blackberries, enriched by fresh lemon zest and spices, supported by tangy minerality. An inviting dry red wine wine for an excellent dinner!

Food Match: Duck breast, lamb, white meats, smooth pates

Sugars: <1 g/l Sulphites: <20 mg/l ABV: 13.0%

AltoLandon Malbec, Spain; this wine has a bright ruby to dark purple colour, thats full of expectation and desire for a bold and striking wine. The wines aromas do not disappoint, with a full and powerful mixed bouquet of black and blueberries, rose, rosemary and violets that is finished with a hint of spice. The palate, even more so, exceeds the expectation. It is nicely concentrated and has fine tannis. The plump fruit flavours of blueberry, plum and blackberry are huge and delectable, with an incredible array of earthy tones and bittersweet cocoa.

Food match: Lamb, Oriental curried red meats, spicy tartare

Sugars: <1 g/l Sulphites: 19 mg/l ABV: 14.0%
