Delica by Marco Colcchio | Lazio, Italy | The Rebellious Non-Organic Wine Trio

If you were to add the name, 'Marco Colicchio', to a thesaurus it would offer alternatives such as renegade and rebel. In life this notorious winemaker has been quoted for his desire to do what he does best, which is make natural wine, and not the laborious paperwork that comes with the tag! So after taking stock of his delectable white wines, there will always be a memory of the day Marco's Delica Rosso landed on the doorstep!

This defying natural trio consists of the following wines;

  • Delica Rosso - a blend of hand harvested Sangiovese and Syrah grapes which are grown following the principals of organic practice, without the certificate, to create a wine that's more medium bodied than expected given its stainless steel maturation. It's mesmerising deep red colour matches the bouquet and flavour profile of red fruits and black berries showcasing the very best exceptional qualities of Sangiovese.The Syrah however, offers a familiar and comforting finish with a delicious black pepper notes in the finish which very graciously disappears into a fond memory you'll want to repeat, again and again!
  • Delica Bianco - this remarkable white wine, or an orange wine due to its 14 day skin contact, is surprisingly light and easy drinking. With its rich yellow colour, it draws you in and makes you want to sample again and again. When you then consider the aromas, that are just as enticing, of fresh orchard and tropical fruits, which then follows through onto the palate with some delicate floral notes and a salivating minerality. It's crisp and fresh when chilled to perfection and an organic wine that's honest and sincere.
After sampling the Delica Bianco, this next wine is a must for the bucket list of any wine lover and I'm sure that even Bacchus would approve!
  • Delica Cinquanta Filari - it's golden colour that shines and glistens, and is already enough to capture every imagination. After the most enjoyable start of simply looking, the goodness continues with the heart warming aromas thats driven by the glutenous desire for the herbaceous and mineral notes, that's balanced perfectly and intertwined with ripe tropical fruits. To follow an introduction must be difficult, but the palate does not disappoint. The wine has a fuller mouthfeel, structured with exceptional finesse and with the flavours being a continuation of the perfectly balanced tropical fruits of pineapple and guava with acidity, dryness and salinity. Refined and warming, yet gracious and unassuming. This quality organic wine will delight every sense, will make anyone sing and if your not dancing at the greatness of this Italian artisanal craftsmanship.

Enjoy!
