The wine is ruby red in the glass and has aromas of red fruits, wild berries and gentle spice. On the palate it is elegant and delicate with vibrant dark berry flavours, white pepper and Asian spices. It is bursting with sweet red fruit flavours that are round and juicy. 2015 vintage is riper and juicier than 2014, but also soft and round.
Location: the Ferme Saint-Martin vineyard is located in the small village of Suzette, right at the top of the Beaumes de Venise appellation contrôlée in the Rhone Valley. The vineyard covers 36 hectares of land – 25 planted with vines. The vineyard is in a privileged south facing spot, on dry and rocky soil in terraces from 200 to 600 meters in height.
Since 1998, all vines have been cultivated organically. Every plot of land is harvested by hand when the grapes are fully ripe. Grapes are selected carefully before entering the cellar and are made without the addition of any oenological products.
The family, gathered around the same passion, works with conviction and seriousness to create wine that is alive and evolving, thus allowing the wine to express its true character, a real reflection of its terroir.
Grape varieties: 50% Grenache – 25% Carignan - 25% Cinsault from 20 to 45 years old vines.
Vinification: In the cellar the aim is to create an easy and digestible red. Vinified without any addition of oenological product the grapes are harvested manually and sorted. Semi carbonic maceration occurs for 7 to 14 days before being matured for 6 months in concrete tank. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
2015 vintage has no added sulphites, natural sulphites levels are below 20 ppm.
