The Winemaking

The grapes are hand harvest in mid-October. Whole grapes are pressed for 3 hours, then settled for between 12-24 hours with the must fermented in concrete tanks for 3 weeks wirthout any additional sugars or yeasts.

With collage with bentonite, the wine is filtered before bottling.

This wine is made naturally without any added sugars and additives, with sulphites only added at the bottling stage to help with stabilisation.

The Vineyard

South of Touraine, at the gates of Poitou, Richelieu had discovered his duchy-meadow. This is where he built a castle and a city back in 17th century France.

Not far from there, in Razines, a green island "La Garrelière" has been winegrowing for more than three centuries. On this hill, which is 130 metres above sea level, the vines receives the best sunshine and produces a local wine. Today 20 hectares of vineyards surround the property and its cellars that bate back to the eighteenth century. Forests that are rich diversity of cultures including vines, truffles, wild asparagus and cereals to name only a few, the Richelais is a region full of colour and sweetness.

The estate is part of the Touraine appellation but its geographical situation ranks it apart. Since 1985, François Plouzeau, winemaker-owner, exploits, vinifies and raises the wines of the estate since 1993, the Domaine de la Garrelière is driven organically, biodynamically, with no chemical synthesis.

From the Winemaker

The Hill on which find the vineyard of the Domaine Garrelière is a place unique. She is overhanging by a hut or each equinox and solstice, friends meet again to share a moment of life and celebrate the coming of the new season. The cuvée "le Chenin de la Hill "is from our plot of Chenin lying on this hill. Before anything else word game, this wine honours all these moments of joy share at the top of this hill
