Story: Mourgues was originally a Provençal name for Ursuline nuns, the farm originally having belonged to a convent near the village of Beaucaire. With Mont Ventoux visible from the top of the vineyard slopes this is a region that feels closer to Provence or the Rhône than the Languedoc.

The sun shines all year long, ensuring that the grapes reach op mum maturity. Two winds adjust the climate; Southern breezes in August refresh the leaves and relieve the vines during the hottest days while the Northern wind, The Mistral, is a precious health-bringing ally for environmentally-friendly vineyards. Cold and dry, it dries out the vines.

Named a er “Les Grès” a specific terroir of covered by “galet roulés”, or sandstones, coming from a glacial moraine that was deposited along the Rhône river. Consequently, Costières de Nîmes has a substantial layer of “grès” that superimposed on a subsoil of calcareous clay and limestone.

Leaf thinning, green harvest as necessary, organic solutions, working the soil using natural products.

    Absolutely Lovely! Mourgues du Gres

This was full body, soft finish! I’m rubbish at describing wine -I’ll leave that to the pros.... but I do know that when I say something is lovely and amazing- my friends trust my rating. I should take a class to be more descriptive! I’ll be purchasing more!! Thank you Alex and Dimitri for finding this wine!!!
