We have been thinking that Spanish red wines are hugely dominated by Rioja and generic red blends. This lighter and juicier Spanish red wine case brings some exciting organic red wines that are a bit unusual and rare, but very delicious and will suit very different occasions.
This case includes the following 6 bottles of Spanish organic wines:
Gran Cerdo Tempranillo, which is grown and made by a very small Spanish artisan producer in Rioja region, but not following standards, so they cannot bear Rioja sign on the label. Very light and juicy style of this red.
La Malkerida Bobal comes from Valencia and made from a very unique indigenous variety Bobal, it is native to this region and even though it can be very hot in Valencia, it is still able to produce a very light style.
Rioja Vina Illusion is unoaked (Joven) style of classic Rioja and will be an exciting find for everyone who loves Tempranillo in its purest form.
Going a bit fuller, we have a bottle of Max 2014, a blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, where you get this roundness of the latter, but juicy red fruit from the former. Good wine from VdLT Castilla.
Next bottle is coming from Monstant, a neighbour to Priorat and it is generally about similarly bold and rich reds. These guys decided to make a fresh style of Garnacha and that's how Mas Picosa was born. It is fresh, yet still rich and medium to full bodies.
Finally, something rich and also coming from Montsant, so you can compare these two styles - Petit Negre Joanna Cox Montsant. Darker red in colour and more pronounced with black fruit flavours for those who love rich flavours. It is still quite vibrant and fresh to be a great pair for BBQ and rich Sunday lunch get togethers.
Hope you enjoy!
