"So, I got onto my wine journey with some help for Dimitri. After discovering the truth and the numbers about sulphites it seemed a bit scary. I have huge difficulties with sleeping and I prefer to drink wines with nothing added. Plus, its fun when they're a bit odd and different, it makes the experience more interesting.
Its odd though, I was looking at this list and I realised its almost all Italian. I would change them, but when you like what you like, what can you do? The Titouan is just an immense wine! I have loved this ever since I first tried it and I will encourage others to fall in love with its too!
These are 6 wines made without sulphites added, they are quirky, unusual, delightful and delicious. This case includes 3 red and 3 white natural wines, which deliver a lot of flavour and health benefits being absolutely preservative free.We hope you enjoy them and share with friends and family!
What's included in this quirky wine case:
Titouan Barbera, Piedmont, Italy - behind this 100% Barbera is Henry Finzi-Constantine, a student of anthropology and the works of Rudolf Steiner (biodynamics) and more recently the introduction of heavy horses in the vineyards of which this wine is named after. On the nose you'll find wild dark berries and cherries, the palate is warm, soft, round and balanced, simply delicious! Drinking well now but would be great if you can stash a few bottles away in the cellar.
Fristyle Garnacha, Montsant, Spain - the name Fristyle refers to the fact that this wine is made without added sulphur. Bright red wild strawberry fruit, nice firm core of stoniness and good freshness. Made of 100% Garnacha, expresses spicy red fruit flavours, a touch of sweetness and a youthful kick.
Roc'Ambulle, Fronton, SW France - an incredibly light red sparkling wine and very low in alcohol- just 9% abv. Made by Production Rurale method from organic Negrette grapes in Fronton, South West France. Zero sulphur goodie is dark pink and discernibly sweet. It is petillant and has nice mousse and oozes sweet cherries, raspberries and peardrops.
Ciu Ciu Merlettaie Pecorino, Offida, Italy - an organic Pecorino is greeny-yellow and has a pleasant floral nose with clean, refined aromas of banana, apple, hazelnut and plum followed by a hint of vanilla. The mouth follows the nose, a slightly round attack however balanced, agreeable crispness, good body and intense flavours.
La Biancara Pico Garganega, Veneto, Italy - the wine tastes very fresh on the palate and there is interesting and playful notes of honey and stone fruits, balanced with tones of herbs, balsamic and mint. The spiced orange finish adds an additional curious dimension to this wine that is very pleasant and enticing. This is a wine to be savoured and enjoyed.
Senzaniente Montepulciano Rose, Abruzzo, Italy - this no added sulphites rose wine from Montepulciano D'Abruzzo DOC has brighter and deeper colour, is juicy, fresh and fragrant with notes of strawberries, some red berries and hints of cherries.
