Ventopuro is a collaboration between Alfonso Undurraga and José Miguel Ovalle founded in 2005. Alfonso gained much experience while working for his family’s Viña Undurraga winery – one of the largest in Chile - while José Miguel worked as a winemaker in Spain at the famous Chilean winery Cousiño Macul.

The grapes of this single vineyard wine come from the San Antonio Valley, located 80 km west of Santiago in the coastal mountain range. San Antonio Valley is one of the youngest wine areas of the country. It has a great marine influence due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, and due to the coastal winds that sweep the vineyards small clusters of grapes ripen slowly. It is a cold valley, particularly at night-time which permits a large aromatic development of the grapes The vines are farmed organically and the yield is no larger than 8,000 kg./ha. These grapes were hand picked between the end of March and beginning of April. Before the grapes are pressed in order to extract a larger amount of aromas, they are submitted to a cold maceration for over 6 hours in the press.

Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures (12-13°C) in stainless steel tanks during thirty days, where it is always protected from air contact.

Hi Sharon, I am glad that you enjoyed the wine! This is currently one of my personal favourites and i was so glad to have the chance to take it back after a few months absence from our shelves. Great tasting Sauvignon Blanc

We had this wine with oven baked Salmon and seasoned Mediterranean vegetables. The rich acidity and intense fruity crispness of the wine complemented the oily rich flavours of the food.
